Sunday morning swim

Martha Lake again - it’s just too peaceful to pass up on a Sunday morning.. this time we swam for at least 1 mile - I needed to have that distance under my belt for confidence given the Olympic tri in a few weeks. Felt good - still labor on my breathing, but that’s just [...]

Saturday swim + run

Jumped in Martha Lake today for the first lake swim of the year.. water was rather warm.. not a long swim today, most because I haven’t be in the water this year at all.. and I wasn’t sure if my new full length tri suit (that I bought last year) was going to restrict or [...]

Friday night cycle

Wanted to get back on the bike tonight, so Shelley and I took off to Marymoor and back. Weather was very blustery, but still a nice ride tonight - very few folks on the trail.. Finally able to ride the tri bike again too… and with my new (well, new to me) ZIPP 404 wheels!! they are very [...]

First run in over two weeks

it’s been awhile since I last ran (sounds like I am going to confession!) and it felt good tonight.. Not a long run but a good start.. guess I better get started since I have signed up for an Olympic distance triathlon in two weeks.. Black Diamond in Enumclaw, WA. Beautiful event.
Also signed up over the [...]

RSVP 2008 recap

RSVP - Ride from Seattle to Vancouver and Party - 186 miles, two days.. Ross, Shelley and I  started in Seattle (Sand Point Naval station) at 6:30am and, after stopping for coffee with Erik Moen, ran into our first snag of the day - a tree had “fallen” onto the burke Gilman trail blocking the [...]

Chambers Bay golf outing

The tri plan called for biking of 45 minutes today, but instead we headed to a spectacular golf course named Chambers Bay, located in Tacoma - 4.5 hours of walking up and down hills (course does not allow carts). Every tee box had a breathtaking view of Puget Sound. And it was a gorgeous day [...]

Tuesday Run

Needed to run tonight given the plan called for a swim and run, and I had only done half of the swim time today. I can tell that I have not run much lately - I felt awkward, slow and no rhythm at all…got a blister on my toe to boot… what they heck???
Running with [...]

Recovery Swim

Met Peter at the Y at 6am for a swim. Nothing long or hard today for me - still recovering from the RAW trip. I guess it took more out of me that I originally thought - it’s like I can’t drink enough fluids right now to feel hydrated, and I have slept for longer [...]

Ride Around Washington Recap

I just finished my second RAW (ride around washington) ride - 6 days of road riding in beautiful Washington state. 200 riders left Packwood, WA early Sunday morning (8/3) on a 6 day trip named Tour of the Volcanoes. Each day consisted of great climbs and fast/long descents. We saw incredible sights of Mt. St. Helens [...]
